SDL Trados Studio 2017
For the past 6 years, I’ve been working with SDL Trados Studio 2011, 2014 and now 2017 – a very useful tool, when handling translations in all sizes and formats. I can highly recommend Trados, especially if you do translations daily.
Trados helps you organize your clients and their terms so that you always know, which term to use for each client. Furthermore, by saving the term in your database, you don’t need to look up the word again or do bigger research, if its a complicated word/sentence.
Another useful tool to keep track of your text is either the web-based or software-based tool Memsource. The program gives you a nice overview of the text, both the source and the target text – this way you don’t have to move between two documents. Here you can also save terms and make use of a translation memory.
Smartling et al.
Other similar tools are Smartling, Translation System, MemoQ, and ProZ. No matter which tool you use, find one that suits your needs best. If you work for a translations company, they might have software that they prefer you use, so ask them before you invest in any of them.
